MEMBERS ONLY
Ingleton Training Weekend – 30 April to 3 May

Entries are now open for the Ingleton Training Weekend – you can enter from this link.

This is four days of training with three nights dinner, bed and breakfast for £90.

Training sessions will be suitable for varying abilities; you can do as much or as little as you like... it isn’t just about the training. There is also the relaxing and chilling-out in good company.

A draft agenda and more information on the club website.

Club Challenge Bike Rides: Good Friday, 2 April and Sunday, 18 April.

We have a couple of one-day challenge rides planned in April, plus a fun local open time trial.

On Good Friday, 2 April we have Ups & Downs in Wales. Rides of 50, 70 or 100 miles starting and finishing at Pontcysyllte and taking in some local classic climbs and quiet country roads.

On Sunday, 18 April it is the Cat & Mouse Challenge in Cheshire:

  • A 76 mile ride from Audlem for the Mice, while:
  • The Cats leave from Chester and try to catch up over their 100 miles.

More information on both these rides, including route maps, on the club website.

No entry needed, just turn up on the day.

Also:

Easter Sunday 4 April: local 25 mile 2-up time trial – D25/8.

Entry for a team of 2 is £14, cheques to Mid-Shropshire Wheelers, P M Ward, 8 Cedar Close, Bayston Hill, Shrewsbury, SY3 0PD.

You need to complete a form (on the e-group Files, under Race Forms – District is Liverpool). If you’re Billy No Mates, you can enter on your own for £7. But it’s more fun (and faster) to do 2-up.

Claire’s Run: TUESDAY NIGHT RUN

The run is split into three groups make sure everyone runs at their own pace or close to it.

Dave Taylor and Sally Napthen will be there coaching as well to help with the three groups.

So please come along to Total Fitness at 18:30. Remember your high vis jackets/tops until we get evening light again

Wednesday Night Track sessions Everyone is welcome to our fully coached popular track sessions on Wednesday nights.  Details on our web site all levels welcome.

Wednesday evening 1 hour recovery runs. These set off from the City Baths at 19:00.  They are informal with routes decided on the night.

Wednesday evening swims at the City Bath.  The club has use of the whole pool at the City Baths on Wednesday nights for un-coached sessions.  These are great for trying out some new techniques, getting in some additional training or just training in an almost empty pool.  Come along at 20:00 to 21:00.

For more training information check the website or e-group for more ad-hoc events and partnerships.

That's all for now Folks....

Well nearly…

There was some discussion on transitions on the e-group and this might help…

Here is a U-Tube video on Open Water Swimming.

Here are some more transition tips.

Having a smoking section in a restaurant is a little like having a peeing section in a pool.

Never drink water - if it can rust iron, imagine what it can do to your stomach.

How long a minute is depends on what side of the bathroom door you're on.

One day we will look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.
