Three members of Chester Tri will be pushing themselves beyond their limits in the next few weeks in an effort to raise funds for cancer support and research charities.
A family connection to the Macmillan charity has prompted Jan Rogers to join 9,000 others in the Barcelona Marathon on 7 March. Her transition from triathlon to long-distance running is going well, with time of 2:21:10 and a third-place age-group finish in the Stamford 30km Valentine run.
Further afield, Nathalie Rees flies out to Tokyo on her 40th birthday to compete in her second marathon in six months, in order to reach her goal of raising £1000 for Cancer Research UK.
Janet Morgan, who has eight marathons behind her, will swap her trainers for the pool to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. In preparation for her individual 5 km swimathon at Christleton pool, Janet has had to find room in her schedule for extra swim training – even fitting in a mile in the pool on the same day as a three-hour spin-a-thon for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. |
